The Speaker Wars are an Americana-rock band formed by Stan Lynch (founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Texas singer-songwriter, Jon Christopher Davis. Their unlikely meeting occurred in Nashville in 2001, while both in the throes of attempting to understand what became of the music they grew up loving and listening to.

JCD was enduring his third major label deal and his producer was yet undecided. He asked Stan, who co-produced several Don Henley records, to produce and Stan gladly came on board. After being told by the “powers that be” that they would be recording a collection of shabby tunes written by a slew of outside writers, Stan countered… "Why are we recording these crappy songs, he’s got good ones of his own?"

Fortunately, they were swiftly fired and formed The Speaker Wars. No committee, just two guys making music they wanna hear coming out of their speakers on their own terms, time and dime.

Stan Lynch is best known as one of rock’s most tasteful timekeepers and founding member of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. The Hall of Fame drummer turned songwriter-producer has written songs for Don Henley, Ringo, Toto, The Byrds, Rita Coolidge, Tim McGraw, Eagles, Eddie Money, The Mavericks and The Knack.

Jon Christopher Davis (JCD) has written songs for and collaborated with Steve Lukather (Toto), Timothy B. Schmit (Eagles), Vince Gill, Radney Foster, Rodney Crowell, Hal Ketchum, Dolly Parton, Billy Ray Cyrus and The Go-Go’s. His music has been featured on/in ABC, CBS, FOX, PBS, USA Today, Billboard Magazine, Texas Highways and the Washington Post.
